Ripley Town Council win Excellence Award 2023

On 27th June 2023, Ripley Town Council received the award for HIGHLY COMMENDED COUNCIL OF THE YEAR 2023! 

 

Our Deputy Clerk, Hannah Curzon received this award on behalf of the Council at a meeting of the Derbyshire Association of Local Councils (DALC) at the Technique Stadium in Chesterfield. 

 

The award was given for our 'Warm Wednesday' initiative back in winter in response to the cost of living crisis in our community. We provided a free hot lunch and warm space with activities at Greenwich Community Sports Hub on Nottingham Road in Ripley, each Wednesday throughout the winter months. 

 

We are thankful to DALC and the award sponsor, BHIB Council Insurance for this award and for recognising our fast response to the cost of living crisis at the end of 2022. We hope to bring back Warm Wednesdays in the winter of this year too.
